At eight in the evening, I turn off the lights in my shop and say to it: Good night, see you tomorrow.
I'm Xiao Yue, and I run a tiny little dessert shop. Every day after closing up, I walk home. Today, let me show you my evening. I'll speak very slowly, so you can listen and learn Chinese at the same time.
The evening breeze feels nice, and the streets are quiet. Daytime is hot, but evenings are much cooler. I walk along, looking at the street lights, and in ten minutes I'm home.
The moment I open the door, my cat Xiao Hua comes running. She meows at my feet: meow, meow. I know — she's hungry.
First, I feed Xiao Hua. Wei means to give her food. Xiao Hua is the cutest when she's eating.
Then I make dinner for myself. Dinner is simple: tomato scrambled eggs and a bowl of rice. I'm not a great cook, but this dish I can make.
First cut the tomatoes, then fry the eggs. The kitchen smells so good! In fifteen minutes, dinner is ready.
I sit on the sofa, eating and watching TV. Honestly, I'm not really watching — I just like having a little sound at home. The shop is busy all day, so now, I can finally get a good rest.
After dinner, I wash the dishes. While washing dishes, I like to listen to music. That way, even washing dishes becomes fun.
Then I take a shower. On a summer night, a hot shower feels amazing! All the day's tiredness just disappears.
After my shower, I make myself a cup of hot milk and drink it slowly. Hot milk at night helps me sleep well.
I sit on my bed and read for a while. Right now I'm reading a book about cakes — I want to learn to make new cakes. Sometimes, after a few pages, I get sleepy, haha.
Xiao Hua jumps onto the bed — she wants to play. I pet her head; she's happy, and so am I.
Lots of people look at their phones before bed, but I don't. If I look at my phone, I can't fall asleep.
Before bed, I turn off the lights and look out the window. It's quiet outside, and the moon is bright.
I say to Xiao Hua: good night, Xiao Hua. She closes her eyes, as if she understood.
My evenings are simple, but I love them. Eating slowly, resting slowly — it feels so good.
What do you do in the evening? Watch TV, or read a book? Tonight, go to bed early too, okay?
Alright, that's all for today. Thank you for spending the evening with me. Good night, sweet dreams, and see you next time!
